Entrance examination & requirements
Information about the entrance examination
Term for the 2027/2028 academic year:
The entrance examination for the training programme (full-time and part-time) will take place on Saturday, 15 May 2027 or on Saturday, 26 June 2027 at the Hohner Conservatory.
The entrance exam consists of 2 parts:
- Theory exam: Aural training and music theory
(Duration approx. 60 minutes) - Practical test: Duration approx. 10 minutes
Aural Training Requirements:
- rhythm dictation
- Naming intervals (up to an octave)
- naming 3-part chords
- Name the scale
- Melody dictation
Music Theory Requirements:
- Naming intervals (up to an octave)
- Notate intervals
- Naming chords
- Write chords
- Functional analysis
- Notate a scale

Once the application form has been submitted, we will contact the applicant as soon as possible. The next step is to submit the following documents:
- Curriculum vitae with a description of previous musical training
- 2 passport photos
- A current police certificate (not more than 6 months old)
- Birth certificate
- Proof of health insurance
- Proof of measles vaccination
- Language level B1 for international applicants

School fees:
(Valid from 11 March 2019)
€1,200 per school year
Financial support for education through BAföG may be available.
