Year 1: Building the foundations – up to the intermediate examination

• A stable weekly routine combining practical work, theory and pedagogy
• Strengthening fundamentals (playing, methodology, ear training/music theory) + good practising and working routines
• Initial priorities in the elective area
• Goal: Interim exam at the end of the 1st year

Year 2: Gaining confidence – taking initial partial examinations

• Consistent work on teaching practice: explaining, demonstrating, correcting, practice strategies, structuring lessons
• Deepening of theory and practice, application in projects/ensembles
• Towards the end of the 2nd year: first modular final exams

Year 3: Sharpening the profile to the max – targeted preparation for completion

• Your profile in the spotlight: artistic, pedagogical, repertoire

Profile 1: Accordion

You want to make the accordion your clear focus – from solidly built foundations to advanced stylistics and interpretation.

Focus: Accordion I (Basic) + Accordion II (Profile) + further selected subjects

Note: Accordion I is for you not „just a basis“, but a Bonus, because you are consistently developing it as a main focus alongside Accordion II.

Profile 2: Harmonica

You come from the harmonica and want to develop it into an educational qualification with clear practical application.

Focus: Harmonica (profile) + chosen subjects + accordion I (basis)

Note: You receive artistic and pedagogical training and examination in the harmonica profile subject. Accordion I supports you as a solid core subject – even without prior knowledge.

Profile 3: Diatonic accordion

You are at home in diatonic music and want to teach this instrument professionally.

Focus: Diatonic (Profile) + chosen subjects + Accordion I (Basis)

Note: You receive artistic and didactic training and assessment in the specialisation subject of Diatonics. Accordion I complements this sensibly as a foundation subject – entry is also possible without prior knowledge.

Profile 4: Elemental Music Education (EME)

You want to work especially with children, groups and creative forms of learning. EMP means: singing, moving, improvising, group leadership – well-grounded, practical and musical. Also possible without an instrumental compulsory elective subject.

Focus: EMP (Profile) + Accordion I (Base)

Note: You will be trained and examined in the EMP profile. Accordion I provides you a musical foundation – starting is possible even without any prior knowledge.

Yes. In the elective area, you can choose the harmonica or diatonic accordion as your specialisation and you will receive artistic and didactic training and assessment in it.

Yes. You can choose EMP as a profile – even without an instrumental elective subject. Ideal if your focus is on group work, early intervention and creative music education.

EMP Admission Interview Guide

There is a theoretical entrance examination (ear training/harmony) and a practical entrance examination, which depends on your profile.
